About

P1090325Welcome to Denim and Gray. My name is Alice and I am blogging from Barcelona, Spain. I named the blog as such because I am almost always in denim jeans and, well, I love the color gray.

The truth is, this isn’t my first blog. In 2004, I created my first blog called We Crazy Dreamers. It’s a personal wedding blog in which  I recorded my adventures as I prepared for the big day. I deleted the blog soon after the wedding, clearly for lack of more stories to tell about our wedding preparations.

When we made the big transcontinental move in 2009, that’s when I went back to blogging. In fact, I had three(!) more blogs. But none of these got past the second or third post. They were all heavy on text, which consumed much time and made blogging a chore. I quit writing eventually.

Then a stroke of genius happened. (Okay, I’m exaggerating.) In April 2013, I  was sick for quite a while and had nothing to do. It must have been the medicines but one day I just woke up and said: I’m going to blog again. I’m going to talk about different things and I’m going to do it the way my favorite bloggers do: few words, more inspiration photos.

And so began another story for me. That story, my friends, is the blog that you are reading now.

Denim and Gray is about fashion, style, decor, design and everything else that catches my eye. I feature posts that I think my sister or a friend will like but in the end I always ask myself: Is it my style, too? Will I wear these shoes as well? Will I use a similar lamp in my living room? If the answer is yes, then the post makes the cut. Some of the things that I’m interested in are: prints and patterns, pastel shades, minimalist spaces, Scandinavian design, bright interiors,    and small apartments. The blog is a work in progress. I may be adding more categories sooner or later so drop in from time to time. After all, this is a scrapbook of the things that I like and that’s a lot of things.

Thank you for your visit and hope to see you again!

Alice

P.S. If there is something that you want me to feature on the blog, please let me know! Leave a message on the comment box and I’ll see what I can do :)

  1. Dear Alice,
I have been reading your blog and have come to appreciate its variety, chicness and personality. I really enjoyed your post about Oilily Women’s Wear Spring Collection 2013. The pictures you used are great and your personal tone gives life to the whole piece. This is what inspired me to ask whether you’d be interested in featuring GENE Style on your blog in a similar way as Oilily. GENE is a London-based women’s clothing label, the aesthetic of which I think will fit well with your blog. Find out more about us at: http://www.genestyle.com. If you are interested get in touch with me at sgmarinova@genestyle.com. Other than that – keep up the good work and I hope to hear from you soon. ;)

  2. Dear Alice, I love your blog! You have a brilliant eye for fashion, design and style and I love the way that you write. I work for a company called Takuro Apparel. We are a company where quality and design meets ethical manufacturing. Takuro was founded as a means to solve a social injustice regarding widowed women in Nepal, providing sustainable employment and training for these outcast women who are refused work in their own communities. Working closely in partnership with WHR-SWG (Women for Human Rights- Single Woman’s Group) we are ready to begin full scale production and would love it if you could feature us on your blog. Please take a look at out brand ethos at http://.issuu.com/jamesedwinbettney/docs/brand-ethos-document where you will find details of our products and our website at http://www.takuroapparel.com/ for more information. Feel free to email me at colette@takuroapparel.com if you are interested. I look forward to hearing from you.

  3. It looks like you have learned how to market your products on your site. I am still learning how to sell my photos effectively on my own blog but don’t know how. Maybe you can give me a few tips. Thanks Alice!

    • Hi, Laurie! Thank you for the comment! I guess you can feature one or two items from your shop on the side bar. You can do this using the Image widget. You can also include a link on your main menu. Here’s how to go about it:

      1. On your WordPress Dashboard, hover your mouse pointer over Appearance. Choose Menus.
      2. Click on Links, add the URL of your shop, and give the link a name (e.g., My shop). Then click Add to Menu.

      Hope this helps! :)

I'd love to hear from you!
