ZARA HOME LOOKBOOK SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER

I know what you’re thinking: This doesn’t look like a typical Zara Home lookbook. But hey, I like it! It feels modern and vibrant, and the classic hues and patterns would be great additions to any white space. The best thing about this collection is that, while the clean, neutral look would appeal to women, it exudes a masculine feel as well. I bet Zara Home made a lot of guys happy this month.

LIGHT WOOD IN SMALL SPACES

My ideal house would have only a small area each for the living room, kitchen, dining room, bedroom, toilet and bath, and home office. But it would have a HUGE storage room for the clothes things that I hoard collect. Does this make sense? Anyway, if you’re like me who isn’t into big spaces and if you like light-colored wood, you might find inspiration for your home in the photos below. Happy weekend!

THE CANDY ROOM

Last month, I wrote about a tea shop in Brazil that reminds me somewhat of the game peek-a-boo. Here’s another store that caught my attention: The Candy Room in Melbourne, Australia. The owners wanted their shop to be a destination and experience where childhood, fiction, fantasy and sweets are present altogether. With this in mind, the designers then applied playful line artwork on white spaces to create the illusion of a room. The result: Doodle Land meets Candy Heaven. (If this fails to bring the inner child out of you, I don’t know what else will. ) On a side note, I think that this is also a great design idea for a children’s bedroom!

WARDROBE ESSENTIALS ALA KERI RUSSELL

Despite having a closet bursting with clothes, do you still find yourself saying that you have nothing to wear, day after day after day? Perhaps you should learn from Keri Russell and invest in these key pieces.

KERI RUSSELL’S CASUAL CHIC STYLE

High-five to all those who made Felicity a weekly habit in their younger years! The love triangle involving Felicity, Ben and Noel; the shift from pre-med to art school; the DRASTIC haircut. Love that show! (One time, I got locked out of the house and I, completely unexpected, knocked on a friend’s door late in the evening, asking if I could watch Felicity at her place. Her family was already in bed and my friend was in her PJs getting ready to do the same. It was rude and insensitive of me, but this was Felicity we were talking about!) Fast forward to the present: Felicity, I mean, Keri Russell is all grown up. She’s married and has two children. But who’s with me in saying that you can still see Felicity Porter in her style?

NORDIC DESIGN FOR THE OFFICE

Images of Scandinavian interiors are all over the internet these days. Who would’t fall for the minimalism and functionality behind the style? It has a distinct flavor that is somehow difficult to explain: modern with a tinge of shabby chic, urban that’s a teeny bit rustic. What I like best about Scandinavian design is the abundant use of white. It brings so much light and space into the room. And yes, even office interiors can benefit from it.

THE SUITE LIFE: ZARA HOME HOTEL COLLECTION

One of Zara Home’s most recent collections is all about bringing hotel living into your own home. It is clean, modern and, true to the ambiance of most hotels, it has everything in white. Strangely enough, instead of evoking images of a suite, it made me think of a vacation house down by the beach. A house where every morning you’d wake up to the sound of the waves, the sight of toast and fried eggs, and the feel of wooden floors under your bare feet. And oh, if this collection has a scent, it would certainly smell like fresh laundry.
