BURST OF COLORS

Happy first day of 2014!!!

One of my readers noticed that I don’t feature enough bedroom designs on the blog which, in fact, is true. For some reason, I am always drawn to living rooms and especially dining rooms perhaps because these are the most used areas in my apartment. But that’s kind of selfish of me, right? And so for this year, I promise to post more inspiration photos not just for the bedroom but also for the other spaces at home.

I’m going to start with these colorful bedrooms for older kids and teenagers. They’re vibrant, fun and exciting – exactly how we want this year to be :)

ESPRIT WINTER: BLUE, WHITE AND PINK

With Christmas already over, I’m sure that everyone’s eyes are now on the next big occasion: New Year. The coming year not only signifies the end of an old calendar but for most, it also marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives: getting a different haircut for a new look or starting a new business venture or making a fresh set of resolutions, which I hope are not just this year’s resolutions unresolved :D

If you’re aiming for more style this 2014 but not at the expense of comfort, then Esprit’s trend guide is what you need.

First stop, blue jeans and winter white for that elegant, casual or sporty look.

But don’t limit yourself to blue jeans. Blue’s many shades give you a whole gamut of wchoices – from tops to dresses, trousers to accessories. Go ahead, experiment!

Do you like blue and pink in the winter too?

BUNDLED-UP BEAUTIES: ZARA SEPTEMBER 2013 LOOKBOOK

Plaid, gray and blue are the dominant features in Zara’s lookbook for September 2013. Although the weather here in Castelldefels remains summery in general, I think that it’s never too early to explore one’s clothing options for the cold season. (And even though I never wear high heels, I think those gray boots are calling my name.)

ANCHORS AWEIGH

Has it really been almost three months since I did a design post on bedrooms for children? My, how time flies! So here’s another set of inspiration photos for those planning to remodel their kids’ rooms. I chose the nautical theme because it is gender-neutral, fun and classic. Hope you like it!

BLUE AND ORANGE BEDROOM FOR LITTLE BOYS

One reader asked me to share some design ideas for a kid’s bedroom. Let’s start with a color scheme (and let’s just say that this would be the first of many). In the past, blue with orange was an odd, almost unlikely choice for a little boy’s bedroom. Today, there is a growing appreciation for the fun contrast that this color combo brings. Blue and orange are best mixed with natural colors such as brown, beige and light gray. By the way, when I said “blue”, I meant “pale blue”. What can I say? Bright interiors are hard to resist.

KEEP CALM AND DECORATE WITH BLUE

The following images were taken from the amazing blog of House of Turquoise. I especially picked these from a bazillion other photos because they are calming and easy on the eyes. If you like decorating with blue, visit their blog for more inspiration. (Don’t worry, that feeling of envy you get as you read it page after page is completely understandable.)

COPY THAT: MARIONA PLANAS IN BLUE AND RED

When it comes to styling denim jeans, Mariona Planas is somewhere on top of my list. I especially like it when she wears boyfriend jeans with flat shoes; she looks edgy and sophisticated! She’s big on ballerinas and although I have yet to find a pair that will fit my odd size feet, it doesn’t hurt to turn to her style for inspiration.
